The conical twin screw extruder is divided into two types: conical co rotating twin screw extruder and conical counter rotating twin screw extruder.
During operation, the two screws of the conical co rotating twin screw extruder rotate in the same direction.
The difference between it and the conical counter rotating twin screw extruder is the addition of an intermediate gear in the distribution box to achieve the effect of two screws rotating in the same direction. It can largely meet the requirements of material processing.
Main parameters of twin-screw extruder
1. The nominal diameter of the screw. The nominal diameter of a screw refers to its outer diameter, measured in millimeters. For variable diameter (or conical) screws, the screw diameter is a variable value, usually represented by small diameter and large diameter, such as 65/130. The larger the diameter of the twin screw, the greater the machining capacity of the machine.
2. The length to diameter ratio of the screw. The length to diameter ratio of a screw refers to the ratio of its effective length to its outer diameter. The length to diameter ratio of a typical integral twin-screw extruder is between 7-18. For a combined twin-screw extruder, the length to diameter ratio is variable. From a development perspective, the length to diameter ratio is gradually increasing.
3. Rotation of the screw. The rotation of the screw can be divided into two directions: in the same direction and in the opposite direction. Generally, co rotating twin screw extruders are mostly used for mixing materials, while counter rotating extruders are mostly used for extruding products.
4. The speed range of the screw. The speed range of a screw refers to the range from low speed to high speed (allowable value) of the screw. Twin screw extruders with co rotating direction can rotate at high speed, while extruders with counter rotating direction generally have a speed of only 0-40r/min.
5. Drive power. Drive power refers to the motor power that drives the screw, in kW.
6. Production. Production refers to the amount of material extruded per hour, measured in kg/h.
